gingy!Happy Ending of the Day: Back in September, a photographer snapping nature photos on Russia’s Tyuleniy Island spotted a rare ginger seal pup that had been abandoned by its family.
Nearly three months later, the mainland dolphinarium that adopted Nafanya — named after similar-looking a Soviet-era cartoon character — happily reports that she is doing swimmingly, and, in fact, has become the Sochi-adjacent aquarium’s main attraction.
“She has a good appetite, and always seems in a happy mood,” says Akvatoria dolphinarium director Yulia Frolova. Nafanya is so popular, that she was even hooked up to her very own live webcam, so people unable to visit can still admire her from afar.
Said Ms. Frolova: “We cannot yet let her swim with our other creatures as she is on a month-long quarantine, but we will do later. We will make sure she has a happy life in our dolphinarium.”
